Description

1941 Willys MB Slat Grill, Date of Delivery 12/15/1941, Frame & Dash Tag Serial #104164, Tub Serial #108860, and Engine Serial #MB-103181 (with Rebuilt Engine Tag – Stock #A-5503). This is an 85 year old production Jeep that was shipped back to France to participate in the 10th Liberty Highway Tour, “Normandy Pilgrimage”, for the 50th Anniversary D-Day Celebration, May 31st – June 9th, 1994.

Own a piece of relevant history. Although this Jeep might not win any “Best of Show” military vehicle competitions, it would hold its own historically in any parade, museum display or military vehicle reunion. Relevant Slat Grill design features of this jeep include:
– pancake air cleaner
– solid wheels
– Willys script tub
– no glovebox
– 2-piece hinged toolbox lids
– small mouth filler hole fuel tank
– “Gas” versus “Fuel” Gauge
– round muffler
– 17” diameter early black steering wheel
– rubber hood blocks
– bolt-on metal headlight protectors
– lusterless blue-drab stenciling
– welded iron slat grill

Recent mechanical work includes recored & boiled original radiator, new radiator hoses, newly boiled and sealed original fuel tank, new fuel filter, rebuilt Solex Carburetor (original Carter W-O Carburetor included with sale), new period correct round muffler, new plugs/points/condenser/rotor/distributor cap, new 12 volt battery, new e-brake handle/cable, new driver side tool bin lock assembly and all fluid levels verified & topped off.

This Jeep is located in Northern California, specifically Martinez. Certificate of Title is Idaho. Body Paint is Olive-Drab Green Flat. Canvas is all Olive-Drab with a nice, weathered patina. The tub has some bondo floor repairs adjacent to the transmission tunnel and the wiring harness is modified in places for conversion to 12 volt, otherwise the Jeep is predominantly original and tight. It starts right up, idles nicely, doesn’t overheat and drives well. Asking price is $34,900. I’m in no hurry to sell, so please, no low ballers.

Lastly, the rarity of this Jeep is especially noteworthy as its production and delivery date places it inside the original 2% of all Willy’s ¼ ton Jeeps ever produced (actual 1.16% to be exact – 4,164 of 359,489). The fact that this Jeep is still rolling on its original frame with its original tub and original engine after 85 years is incredible. This vehicle is truly a rare find and more than worthy of its asking price…
