Lamborghini Enters the World of Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs)
Following a series of social media posts that hinted at it, Italian supercar maker Lamborghini finally announced its NFT (non fungible token) Project. Dubbed Space Key and created in collaboration with an undisclosed artist and inspired by a piece advanced carbon fiber composite material that was shipped to the International Space Station for research purposes.
In collaboration with NFT PRO(tm).
Lamborghini, the Italian automobile manufacturer has taken the first step into non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The latest project, dubbed the Space Key, is a work that was created in collaboration with a unknown artist. The unique NFT is a physical item that connects to exclusive digital artwork that can be accessed via an QR code printed on the back. The project is limited to five pieces and will be auctioned off in the coming weeks.
The Space Key is made from carbon fiber composite materials which Lamborghini shipped to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of an experiment. When it returned to earth, the carbon fiber was then sculpted into this unique artwork. The physical object is equipped with an NFT serial code that ties to the digital art work via a QR code located on the back.
For those who aren't in the aware, NFTs are unique identifiers recorded on a distributed blockchain ledger and tied to a digital asset such as a picture, video, music or other record. This enables owners to guarantee the authenticity, scarcity and the traceability of their tokens on the internet.
Lamborghini takes this unique approach to art a step further by working with NFT PRO - white label NFT solution for businesses. In the coming weeks Lamborghini will reveal details about this exciting project including the name of the unknown artist, as well as the timeline for the auction.
The physical element of Space Key
After a series of social media posts that teased something space-themed the Italian supercar manufacturer Lamborghini has entered the world of non-fungible (NFT) tokens through an exclusive project dubbed Space Key. The NFT was developed in collaboration with an unknown artist and will be auctioned within a few weeks. At its heart is a piece of high-tech carbon fiber composite material that was delivered to the International Space Station (ISS) in 2019 as part an ongoing research project. Carbon fiber was 3D printed for the base of every Space Key. lamborghini veneno key TheKeyLab is linked to an exclusive digital image via a QR code. Only five Space Keys were produced.
NFTs are unique identifications that can be stored in distributed ledgers, like the Blockchain, and linked to digital assets like images. They're all the rage among those with more money than sense and it was only an issue of time before an automaker decided to cash in on the trend.
Space Key consists of five units. It was constructed with a physical part of the carbon fiber composite, which was sent to the ISS in the year 2019. Each NFT will have an QR code that will link it to a special digital artwork created by the same artist. More details will be released in the coming days and weeks including the name of the artist as well as the digital artwork, and how to purchase one of the five Space Keys.
The digital artwork
After several weeks of social media posts hinting at it, a prestigious car manufacturer Lamborghini has finally announced its first non-fungible token (NFT) project. Called the Space Key, it consists of five physical items that unlock a unique digital artwork NFT created by the unidentified artist. Created in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm), the 'collector's piece' is limited to just five units and will soon be auctioned off.
Each Space Key contains a block composed of carbon-fired composite material. It was shipped to the International Space Station as part of a 2019 research project. After returning to Earth, the block was engraved with QR codes that link to the digital element within the Space Key.
Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that occurs only seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. More than 600 million pixels make up each of the five images that were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.
Oefner used a balloon with a camera to capture each of the individual shots, which were later merged into the final image. The result is a photo that is completely out of the world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising from the Earth. The Space Keys will be auctioned off in the near future, but the exact date and time of the event hasn't been confirmed yet.
The auction
With the slogan "to the moon', the prestigious automobile maker Lamborghini has entered the realm of non-fungible tokens (NFT) by launching a hypnotic project that was developed in collaboration with NFT PRO(tm). The Space Key is essentially an NFT that is made up of carbon fiber composite material that actually went to the International Space Station in 2019 to conduct research. The physical sample has been reshaped into five unique items that each link to exclusive and digital artworks created by an as-yet undisclosed artist via the QR code on their backs.
The auctions will take place between February 1 and February 4. They will last 75 hours and 50 minutes, which is the amount of time it took Apollo 11 for him to leave Earth and enter the Lunar orbit. The five NFTs are available for bidding by making an online registration. Each one will be auctioned by itself and the winner will be awarded a digital image created by renowned photographer Fabian Oefner, which captures the five distinct moments the Space Key passed during its flight through space.
In the next few weeks, we'll reveal all the details regarding the Space Key as well as the digital artworks accompanying it. This includes the identity of the mysterious creator and how to purchase these incredible creations. Follow Lamborghini's Instagram for all the information you need!
