Could Tandem Double Buggy Be The Answer For 2023's Challenges?
Buying a Tandem Double Buggy

If you have twins or children very similar in age, a tandem double buggy is a great option. They are a bit smaller than side-by-side buggies and are ideal for narrow spaces like doors, public transport and terrain that is rocky.

Some transform into travel systems that take 2 carrycots or car seats. They are often heavier, longer and less stable than a single pushchair.

Convertible

There are many options for adding a second seating or changing a single stroller into double. The UPPAbaby Vista V2 is a large, gorgeous stroller that can easily be converted from a single model to double by adding the rumble seating (available separately). However, it's pricey and less mobile than other double strollers since the second seat goes in front of the front seat. The Nuna Demi Grow is a similar option with great seating versatility but lacks under-seat storage when used in doubles mode.

Other options include twin buggies that have all-terrain wheels and joggers with fixed wheels that can hold two children. They are more expensive however, they are designed for long trips on rough terrain and have a higher resale price.

Independent seat recline

If you're looking for a double buggy that can transport children of different ages then you're going to require a model with an recline independent for both seats. This will allow your child's older to relax in the back while the baby sleeps in the bassinet, and the reverse.

You'll also have to think about the size of the pushchair, as this will affect how easy it is to traverse doors and public transportation. If twin stroller with car seats have very narrow doors, it may be worthwhile to consider a side-by-side pushchair such as the Mountain Buggy Duet which has the benefit of having a footprint comparable to a single buggy, but can still take 2 seats and car seat adaptors.

Tandem buggies tend to be larger than side-by-side models, which makes them more difficult to maneuver around and down kerbs. However they can also accommodate a wider range of combinations of car seats/car seats/seats and are the perfect choice for twins and siblings of various age groups. They are also more expensive than single to double buggies but they're well worth it if you intend to keep it for a number of years. They also hold some value if sold when your children are old enough to use it.

This feature allows you to place your child in an ideal position for naps or to observe. This is particularly important if you have a younger child in the rear seat who may be inclined to lie down and sleep while the older child would prefer to sit and observe their surroundings.

Certain brands have a distinctive design that allows the back seat of their vehicles to fully recline into a position that is nearly flat, which is ideal for babies. For instance, the iCandy Orange has raised stadium-style seating and can recline the toddler seat that comes with it as well as the optional RumbleSeat to multiple positions, to give your kids a the option of where they want they will sit, as well as offering an excellent UPF 50+ canopy with peekaboo windows.

More spacious than twin buggies

There's no need to have twins in order to benefit from a bigger double buggy. They're great for siblings of different age groups. They allow you to move around without having to worry about your children touching. They're typically a bit longer with one seat positioned behind the other. The seats can be reclined fully for infants, or put in an upright position for toddlers.

Mountain Buggy Duet is a popular choice. It has the slimmest design that is side-by-side, and a footprint comparable to a single stroller. It comes with an adjustable handle that makes it easier for parents to push and a handbrake which is helpful on steep hills. It is suitable for use right from birth, and can be paired with a range of car seats and carrycots.

The iCandy Wave is another option. It can be folded in mono or duo mode with just one click. Its innovative frame can be expanded to allow for a second seat and can be used with two carrycots or car seats which makes it an ideal option for older siblings that wish to sit together and share the view. It's a little longer than other models, yet it's easy to steer and has soft suspension to tackle kerbs.

There are also plenty of 3-wheeler inline tandems available Check out Phil and Teds inline models or iCandy's Peach and Pear buggies for instance they provide stability and quick steering. Most of them can be folded down to the size of a single buggy which is useful when you have trouble storing it at home or frequently need to lug it in and out of the car on public transport.

Be aware that a two-wheeled buggy is heavier and more bulkier than one compact buggy. Make sure you know what you want prior to making a buy. It will be utilized on buses, trains and subways often, so it should be easy to use and manage. You may also have to juggle it on and off the car seat when you take your children to nursery or school so you'll need to know it can be easily manoeuvred in small spaces.

The best time to start is when you are born.

You'll need a pushchair for the whole family, whether you're expecting twins, or you have a second child after you've had your first. Double buggies are generally heavier, bulkier, and more expensive than single strollers. However they are also more maneuverable in tighter doorways or around obstacles such as curbs. They are also compatible with piggyback ride-along boards (either from the manufacturer or as a separate accessory purchase) which means you can carry three children at once.

Tandem pushchairs place one child in front the other. They're a great option for children who are close in age and are good friends. They're not completely safe. Siblings who are sitting side-by-side could kick or punch each other and children with different heights may fight over who is sitting higher. This issue can be resolved by a tandem high-low model that raises the seat to the rear. Your older child will not be seated on the bottom of the car and won't get much of an opportunity to see.

The iCandy Wave is a great option for parents looking for an easy-to-use convertible double buggy that can accommodate a newborn in a carrycot as well as an older child in the main seat. It has an intelligent frame that can be expanded in size when you add the second child seat. It also folds flat for storage that is compact. The cushioned seats are comfortable, the straps are easy to fasten and the buckles some of the most impressive we've seen in any of our tests. The canopy is large in size, UPF 50+ protection, and peekaboo window. Both seats can recline independently.

The only drawback of the iCandy is that it's a bit on the expensive side however, a good tandem will last a long time and will retain its resale value, so you'll probably get back some of the cost in the end. The iCandy doesn't come with the same seating options as our other top choices. However, it's an excellent choice for families who don't want to spend lots of money.
