Its combination brush gets into corners and edges, and it automatically increases suction when it detects carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's compact footprint for docks and the self-emptying feature are nice touches. However, if you want to change floor levels on the map or set no-go zones, you'll need manually reset it to do this, which is quite a hassle.

The IQ app comes with advanced mapping and automated functions, however it lacks no-go zones. These are available only on iRobot robots. Its smart-pathing system allows for superior maneuverability, and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is efficient, although it can get stuck on the tassels of the rug.

During our tests, we discovered that the IQ handled pet hair well. It was able to remove lots of debris on floors that were not bare and a decent amount of medium-pile rug. It was less effective on shag carpets which was a struggle to reach dirt and dust buried in the fibers.
