About pickuphurenbonaire

Description

I’ve spent the better part of my life on the island of Bonaire, where the salt air and the limestone trails tell you exactly what a vehicle is made of. By day, I run a rental fleet of modern pickups—keeping tourists happy with cold A/C and backup cameras. It’s a good business, but if I’m honest, my heart doesn't beat for plastic dashboards and sensors that beep at you every five seconds.

My real obsession started with the old-school stuff. There’s a specific kind of magic in a Willys that you just don’t find in a showroom anymore. Maybe it’s the way they smell like a mix of old canvas and 90-weight gear oil, or the fact that you can actually feel the mechanical soul of the machine through the steering wheel. On an island where things break and rust is a constant battle, I’ve developed a deep respect for the sheer simplicity of these trucks. They were built to be fixed, not replaced.

I’m on this site because I’m always chasing that next project or that perfect part. While my "day job" fleet is all about 2024 models, my personal time is spent under a hood, usually covered in grease, trying to keep the 4x4 heritage alive. I’ve learned the hard way what makes a truck survive the Caribbean heat and the rugged washboard roads of the National Park, and that "hands-on" experience is what I bring to every restoration.

I’m a firm believer that these old Jeeps and Pickups deserve to be out in the wild, not tucked away in a museum. If you’re a fellow nut for leaf springs and flathead engines, or if you’ve got a rig that needs a home where it’ll actually get some dirt on the tires, let’s chat. I’m always up for talking shop with someone who understands that "reliable" is a relative term when you're driving a legend.
