The History Of Peugeot 3008 Key Fob
What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Peugeot Key Fob allows drivers to start the car from afar. This is useful in temperatures that are hot or cold and allows drivers to warm up the engine and the interior before getting inside the vehicle.

Car dealerships are able to create and program new Peugeot keys for you however only if you have the patience to wait for weeks for them to do it. KeyNOW can cut, program, and deliver new Peugeot keys faster than you can at KeyNOW.

Keyless Entry

In addition to unlocking and opening the doors of your car, some key fobs are also able to start the engine. This is useful when you have to leave the vehicle during the heat of summer, or if you're carrying large objects in the boot that make it difficult for you to open the door manually. Press the unlock button on your key fob few times to unlock the car. The door locks should close and the red LED light will start to flash. If this does not occur then your key fob battery may be dead and needs to be replaced. Also, RF interference coming from nearby buildings may interfere with your system.

Another interesting feature is that certain key fobs have a hidden physical key to unlock the car (often only for the driver's door, but sometimes for the boot too). They can usually be accessed by flipping up the flap on the fob, or pressing a button on the case. The physical key can then be pulled out of the slot in the case.

Key fobs may be damaged by water - particularly in the event that the chips inside are exposed to soapy or salty water. In some instances key fobs can stop working completely due damage to the chip. In this situation the key fob has to be replaced by the dealer. However, locksmiths are able to offer replacement keys much faster than a dealer, and at a much lower cost.

Remote Start

You can start your car and not need to carry your keys with you. This is particularly useful if it's hot and you want to cool your vehicle while running errands. But, there are a few things to consider before using this feature.

Some key fobs include an engine start button that you can use to start your vehicle remotely (for instance, Ford has a circular an arrow which is moving clockwise around its key fob). Mazdas, for example, require you to lock the key first and then press the Start button.

There could be a dead or weak battery in your key fob, if you're not able to start your car. This is because the batteries of the key fob aren't able anymore to send a strong signal to the car's system.

If this happens, either replace the batteries, or re-program your key fob. The KeyLab is different for each vehicle, but the instructions are generally found in the owner's manual. Our mobile technicians are also competent to assist you with this process. We have the expert tools needed to cut and program replacement Peugeot keys at your workplace, at home, or when you're stuck by the roadside.

Door Locks

The Peugeot 3008 remote key system enables the owner to lock and unlock their vehicle by pressing of a button on the key fob. Unlike the traditional key that has a key hole that is physical, this key fob stores a hidden electronic replica of the car key inside.

It does this by using an electronic signal that can only be transmitted when the key is within a certain distance from the car. A solenoid in the door lock converts the electronic command to mechanical after the signal has been detected. This causes a rod to operate the door locks, the same way an actual key could.

There are a variety of possible reasons for an Peugeot keyfob that is not locking or unlocking your vehicle. The most frequent reason is a dead battery. It can be repaired in a matter of minutes. Other causes are worn buttons, water damage signal interference or a malfunctioning electronic chip.

Modern vehicles require a precise level of accuracy in order to function, and the key fob isn't in any way immune to this. The key fob might be programmed incorrectly, or may have a hardware defect that prevents it from responding to signals from the vehicle. A licensed locksmith can reprogram the key fob and ensure that it works with your vehicle.

Immobiliser

Peugeot were among the first car manufacturers to incorporate an immobiliser chip in a key. The immobiliser chip stops the car from starting if it sees an untrue signal coming from the key to the car. If it's new, this is great however as they age, the chips may wear out and cause problems. This usually begins with an alert that reads 'anti theft system active' on the dashboard, or a warning light is blinking indicating "immobiliser fault".

Usually Peugeot dealerships need to be called in to design and program replacement keys. However, a professional mobile locksmith is equipped with dealer-standard equipment in their van, meaning they can be there and generating new Peugeot keys at the roadside or at home more quickly than dealerships would be able to.

Peugeot keys typically begin to fail when the blade begins to wear. This wear causes the mouth part of the key to stop being able to enter the lock in a proper manner which causes more wear on the locks themselves. The issue can be addressed by simply changing the blade. It is also possible to have the teeth of the key repaired so they work more smoothly. Only a certified auto locksmith can do this, but it can save you a lot of time and money in the long run.
