Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The handles of uPVC/Composite are constructed from robust materials, and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work off the same spindle and screw fixings. They are easily installed on doors made of uPVC/Composite, either new or old.

The handle can be positioned and angled to fit any user. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the quality of finish and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful in doors that are narrower, where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shorter lever is a good choice for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently than lever handles found on most doors. These handle types can either operate from a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are usually utilized on UPVC doors with double glazing and come in a range of finishes & variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in several finishes like White Silver, Chrome, & Gold. The finish is compliant with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high level of durability and performance for the intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad styles for handles are supplied with the spindle and screws which allow them to be put on an existing or new uPVC door. The backplate fixation centers of 211mm allow for a bigger handle, which is typically beneficial when replacing an old or faulty multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also spring-loaded, thereby solving the issue of handles hanging out of their horizontal position when they are not in use.

When selecting the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is crucial to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement is often referred to as the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect in ensuring that you have the appropriate handles.

When you have the right PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you need for your doors. They are usually a square or round design with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads that we sell are sprung, meaning that they return to their horizontal position when they are not in use, instead of hanging out and potentially sticking in the frame. This keeps draughts out of the property. You will also find that the majority of the UPVC lever pad handles are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case that will reveal pins that can be aligned with the pins in the lock body, permitting them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The selection of a cylinder is essential. It is based on the use that your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with an extra secure cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that can improve security even more, like anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To ensure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it must be measured accurately. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, if there is one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however if this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. It is crucial to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it vulnerable to lock snapping attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been constructed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This can help to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.

There are cylinders that are constructed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specific tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and easier to achieve than gaining access through a multipoint lock and leaves little evidence of a break-in, which could hinder an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their normal position after use. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This component is the best way to address this issue. It also helps prevent your upvc door from becoming stuck in the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They are not compatible with handles that are not sprung and you'll need to cut a hole in the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please look at the image for a more detailed diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the backplate of the door handle for many kinds of uPVC doors. They feature an elongated square that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.
