What You Need to Know About Your Nissan Key Fob
You've either lost your Nissan keyfob, or it has stopped working. Before you panic or contact the dealer, go back to where you last used it.
Fortunately, it's easy to change the battery in your Nissan key fob. It may be difficult initially, but you'll get the grasp of it quickly.
Smart Keys
The key fob that was included with your Nissan is a vital element of the car's sophisticated keyless entry system. It communicates with the vehicle's electronic system to open doors or start the engine, and comes with a handy design that is simple to keep in your wallet. Key fobs also offer features that make life easier, like a lockout protection function, which ensures that you won't leave your vehicle with keys inside.
Contrary to earlier models of key fobs which required you to place the key in the ignition slot to gain access to your vehicle's onboard systems, smart keys work wirelessly. Nissan detects when you come close to your vehicle and activates the Intelligent Key's internal functions. This may include locking or opening the doors, lowering and raising the tailgate, or even starting the engine.
Some smart key models include a valet key that is hidden inside the metal. The key can be taken from a release on the side of Smart Key fobs to lock the trunk or glovebox before giving it to a valet. The Smart Key fob has a charging pocket that can be used to charge the battery even when it is not in use.
You may need to replace the batteries in your Nissan Intelligent Key fob if it's not working as it should. Most fobs are powered by CR2025 or CR2032 batteries. Instructions to change the batteries are available in your owner's manual.
Intelligent Key Fob
Nissan Intelligent Key Fobs allow you to unlock the doors of your car and start the engine with just the touch of a button. It also allows you to activate presets to meet your preferences. For example, you can alter the seat and mirrors to maximize comfort. You can control the music through your smartphone so that you don't need to leave your car.
Intelligent Key Fobs include an antenna built-in which sends an alert to your vehicle when you hit a button or walk towards it. When the vehicle receives this signal and the system is activated opening and locking doors, starting up the engine, and opening the trunk. To test the fob take a step back from your car and click on the buttons. If the lights flash or the horn beeps it means you've successfully programmed your Intelligent Key Fob.
car key services are needed to operate Intelligent Key Fobs. Our Parts Department will help you quickly and easily replace it if yours runs out. To do this, remove the key from its hidden compartment and then open the battery compartment on your key fob. Remove the old battery and then insert a new one in its place. Make sure the positive side of the new battery is facing in the same direction as it did with the previous one. Close the battery compartment, and then put the key to its original position within the case.
Remote Start
Nissan remote start is a feature that allows drivers to heat or cool their car from outside the vehicle, provided they are within operating range. The ignition of the car is activated when a driver presses the button on the key fob or smartphone app. The remote start system can also activate climate control so that the driver is able to choose their preferred temperature. Certain systems have two-way communication which allows the driver see what's happening inside their vehicle.
If your car's remote start feature isn't functioning, the most frequent reason is that the battery isn't working. The key fob is powered by a tiny battery that is replaceable. It can last for around two years. The battery can be changed easily, but you'll be required to know where the hidden key is on the Intelligent Key Fob and how to access the battery compartment.
To do this simply flip your fob over and press the hidden key release latch located on the back of the keypad. Once the key pad has opened remove the battery and insert a fresh one, ensuring that it is in line with the size and shape of the existing battery. Be sure to reinstall the hidden key and reassemble the key fob correctly before closing the case. Contact our parts department for help in replacing your Intelligent Key fob battery.
Lockout Protection
Lockout protection can prevent annoying lockouts due to impedance relay failure. A special module inside the power control unit monitors the activity of the impedance relay, and shuts off the output. This option is only available to vehicles that have the Smart Key system or through the personalization menu on the vehicle.
Many serious accidents have happened because a machine was turned on when it was supposed to be completely shut down to prevent maintenance or repair. These accidents are usually the result of the energy being not released correctly. Lock-out tag-out (LOTO) systems help prevent these accidents by making sure that the machines remain off until the authorized individual releases them.
The LOTO system is comprised of a set of locks tags, locks, and other devices that are used to secure, isolate or block the machine from electrical sources. All "affected" and "authorized" personnel are required to be trained in the use of these devices. These devices include but aren't limited to locks, chains, padlocks, wedges, adapter pins, and self-locking fasteners. Each device is identified and labeled with the date and time of its application along with the name of the authorized individual, and the reason for the lockout or tag-out (repair, maintenance, etc). It must be stated clearly that these devices will not be removed until the LOTO procedure is completed.
