Why No One Cares About Upvc Replacement Door Handles
UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors get worn out over time and need to be replaced. When doing this it is crucial that the new handles match the exact dimensions of the handle that was previously used.

The three measurements to be inspected are the top screw's position, lever and key hole sizes. Check the size guide for help with this.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever/lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on replacement or new doors. This style of door handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. This handle is offered by several manufacturers including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are ideal for doors with multi-point locks that require a heavy duty design. The handles are inline and use the same screws and spindle to fix them. They are easily fitted on a new or existing uPVC/Composite door.

The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles. This helps to ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can also be reduced to accommodate the widest range of locks. This is particularly useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is situated further back in the door. A shortened lever is also a good choice for doors where the latch can be activated by the thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad upvc door handle operates differently to the lever type handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles can use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side by using two inline or offset spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a variety of finishes and variations.

upvc replacement door handles are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish meets BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads include a spindle and screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a wider size of handle which is often a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. These handle levers have a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when not in use.

When choosing the replacement UPVC handle and spindle it is essential to match the dimensions of the PZ of the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC door. This measurement can also be called 'handle centre' or cylinder centres'. It is important to match the right handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll be required to make sure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you require for your doors. These are usually round or square, with an internal lever, and an external push pad.

The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads we sell are sprung. This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position after not being used instead of hanging and possibly sticking in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from getting into a house. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles come in both left and right handed versions which allows them to be placed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned with the pins in the lock body and allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors generally needing different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder you choose is essential. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with a more secure cylinder whilst internal doors can be secured with the standard cylinder. In addition, some cylinders have extra features that increase security even more, like anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.

A euro cylinder should be measured correctly to ensure it is the correct size for your door. The cylinder must be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is best to do this while the lock is in place however, when this isn't feasible, you can take it off and remove it to measure. A cylinder that protrudes beyond the handle and escutcheon could be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is crucial that it's not too long.

The design of the latest cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. These features are designed to minimize the risk of attack by forcing the cylinder to rotate in an opposite direction. This will help to prevent attacks and ensure your doors are secure.

Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a typical attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the break line of the lock and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a lot faster and more straightforward than opening a multipoint lock and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which could hinder the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned inside the base of your door handle's backplate providing a sprung solution and returning the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after using. In the past, a lot of handles did not have a spring built into them, and as a result, they are more likely to slide or drop when the locking mechanism has been disengaged. This simple component is the best solution to fix this problem. It also helps prevent your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they aren't easy to close manually.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung and you'll have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please look at the image for a technical diagram). They are a replacement for existing broken or missing cassettes in the door handle backplate of various brands of uPVC doors. They are fitted with a square cut out which accommodates an 8mm spindle and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes are an excellent value-for-money way to fix the problem of handles on your doors sliding. They are simple to install and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
