We asked Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect, and founder of LS Projects - for her suggestions on how to pick the right one. They evaluated the capacity of storage, layout, energy efficiency, and other features.

GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The name of the series suggests that GE’s Profile series is targeted at people who want to incorporate cutting-edge technology into their kitchen. This refrigerator is packed with them, from an in-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a clever water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is a premium, I expect better.

This refrigerator is a good option, despite the slight blip. It has a large freezer compartment which is uncommon for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also holds plenty of frozen food compared to other models.

Inside the fridge, you'll find 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment is 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is on the same as the size of a French door fridge that costs this much. It has a decent-sized icemaker in the left door. However it's not the biggest one I've seen.

You can adjust the shelves in each compartment to create a customized storage layout for the items you need to keep. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is stylish, too. The LED lighting is a nice touch and the storage bins come with an additional shelf that can fold down to make it possible to store large items. The drawers include temperature controls that let you set them to Meat, Beverage or Deli settings. The drawers are easy to shut and open however I found the plastic's textured coatings to be a bit rough on my fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator includes the full suite of features you'd expect from a fridge in this price range with Wi-Fi and app support via GE's SmartHQ software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and lets you control your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also offers a lot of customization options. It also sends you notifications when the door is left unlocked, when the freezer or fridge requires defrosting, and when the filter requires a change.

It would be nice if GE PYE22PYNFS could offer Precise Fill which is a feature found in a few GE refrigerators that allow users to select the amount of cups they wish to dispense. It does have a countdown feature on the fridge display to display how much water have left, but it's not as helpful as Precise Fill.


Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is an impressive product. It's designed to look like it's a seamless component of your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also features a veggie compartment that keeps fruits and vegetables fresher for longer periods, and two compressors to preserve food. The Ice maker is among the best we've ever tested and produces pyramid-shaped ice that is low in use of water. This fridge is perfect for a small household or a kitchenette with a built-in appearance and top-of-the line food preservation.

The fridge was rated the best refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for various reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, never changing by more than a fraction an inch. This is essential in preventing freezer burn. The fridge section of the fridge also performed well, reaching the temperature that was set for the initial setting within an hour and keeping that temperature steady over the course of our testing.

Bosch is a household name for its top-quality appliances. It's therefore no surprise that Bosch's counter depth fridge Bosch counter depth refrigerator can be connected to your home Wi Fi and Bosch's Home Connect. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your smartphone or tablet. The refrigerator is costly, but offers great features and capabilities at a reasonable cost.

It's important to understand the limitations of your fridge. You may need to get creative with tall items because the fridge has a small shelf space. The shelves are also not resistant to spills and are easily stained or damaged by sharp items. The trays are easily removed from the fridge. However, they should be cleaned regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth refrigerator is a great option for those who need lots of space within the space of a compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. Inside, the fridge features a standard French-door layout with gallon-sized door bins at each door as well as two rows of shelves that capture spills, and a set of crisper drawers. The top shelf on the right can be folded down to give taller items more headroom. There's also a full-width drawer to store products from the deli and an inside water dispenser.

One of the best features of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is in the freezer, which makes it easy to transfer the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, for instance, sliding drawers that can help you better organize the position of items. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food and a separate bin for ice.

Smart InstaView panel is another awesome feature of the refrigerator. It allows you to manage the refrigerator's temperature and lighting from your smartphone. It's a simple way to monitor your refrigerator and manage it, especially when not at home.

But while the Smart InstaView is a neat feature, it does not necessarily enhance the overall performance of the refrigerator. The fridge took a bit longer to defrost food and chill it than some others we tried. This could be due to its larger capacity.

The doors are a different issue with this refrigerator. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However taller people will have a difficult time closing them without slamming. It would have been much better if they had a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those who want to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with a more efficient design. It has a capacity that is higher than average for counter-depth models, and it cools evenly. It's also less expensive than the best counter depth refrigerator with an ice maker, making it a great choice.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't break the bank and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a good choice. It has a simple design that's not as visually striking as other models, but it has enough features to make it a solid choice. Its most important characteristic is the adjustable temperature drawer which helps keep food items such as meat and vegetables fresher for longer. It also comes with a huge water and ice maker dispenser.

The "Chill Drawer", which sits above the two crisper bins, is a nice feature. This drawer allows you to redirect a portion of the fridge's cooling power into this area, so that you can store foods that require extra attention. This feature is adjustable using a slider on the outside of the drawer. french door fridge and freezer can also alter the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings work better than the specific ones.

In my experiments, I noticed that the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across different parts of the fridge. The temperatures in the middle, top and bottom of the refrigerator didn't vary much from 38 degrees. This is a great performance however it doesn't make it into the top ten in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. You can also connect this fridge to an intelligent thermometer to get more precise measurements of your fridge's temperature.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless with a "smudge resistant" finish. It does a great job of removing streaks and fingerprints, even compared to shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tested.
