The Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair
The vacuum cleaner which is the best one for you will be based on how much hair on your pet and what type of flooring you have. Certain models also come with advanced features, such as obstacle detection and self-emptying capabilities.
When selecting a model, ensure it has a large dustbin and quiet mode. Smart mapping and app features such as zoning, scheduling and no-go zones are helpful.
1. iRobot Roomba 900
The iRobot Roomba 900 model is an excellent mid-range model. It comes with the latest and most innovative smart features, including digital maps that allow you to see the location Roomba was during each cleaning cycle. It also comes with Spot Mode, which lets you target the robot to an area in your home.
The 900 series also comes with iAdapt 2.0 Navigation that ensures an efficient, seamless path through your home. Sensors for obstacles help it avoid furniture, and also avoid clutter like charging cables and other items. It also has virtual wall barriers that you can use to block straight passages or a circular space (like pet food stations).
It's compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and the free iRobot Home App. It runs for a total of 75 minutes, and it automatically recharges itself when the battery's power goes out.
2. Roomba from iRobot 990
This is the top version of Roomba. It has all the bells, whistles, and features. It uses a high tech AeroForce cleaning system that has twice the suction power of other models. It can easily clean pet fur, lint, and dirt, as well mold spores, large chunks of debris.

The app also lets you to create digital "Keep-Out Zones which block the robot from entering specific areas of your home. It's an excellent option for people who have pets or children and need to keep their mess out. It didn't do as well as the Samsung Powerbot R7070 or Neato Botvac connected in our test for pet hair.
3. iRobot Roomba 980P
The Roomba 980P is iRobot's top of the line model, and it's better on its predecessor in many ways. It's more efficient, smarter and picks up pet hair more effectively. It is equipped with a remote.
The bin is located at the back of the robot. It can be opened by pressing a button that allows you to dump dirt or other debris. iRobot's mobile app lets you set your cleaning preferences, see an image of the area you want to clean and set up your robot to clean on specific days of the week.
One issue is that the 980 doesn't come with a display or manual control. This is a major disadvantage for a vacuum which relies heavily on its smart features. Its competitions such as Neato's Botvac Connected and LG's RoboKing line provide more control options.
4. iRobot Roomba 980
This is the most powerful robot we have tested and is a top choice. resources is able to remove pet hair, dirt and crumbs effortlessly on hardwood floors, and does a great job cleaning carpets. It also utilizes the latest mapping technology, which allows it to find rooms and navigate better. It can be placed under the majority of sofas, but it's not all of them. It also is able to avoid getting caught in power cords or other obstacles.
Remotely start and schedule your Roomba by using the app. You can also block off areas that you don't want it to visit. For instance, you could put a virtual fence next to the dog's water and food bowls. It also has a spot-clean button that vacuums a circular area of about 4 feet.

It even managed to fit under our sofas, where the space is tighter than other models we've tested.
Roomba 960XP iRobot from iRobot
The powerful suction of this robot, its HEPA filter, and its battery life of two hours make it an excellent option for those with significant cleaning requirements. It has discarded the nickel metal hydride battery of earlier models to go with a lithium ion model, which should last longer throughout cleaning sessions and between charges.
IRobot's CarpetBoost feature automatically boosts the power of the brush for difficult spots. It can also make two cleaning passes instead of the standard single-pass. Virtual walls can be used to isolate areas that you want to keep clean.
WiFi and app support are common features. They let you schedule a recurring cleaning or set up other options such as a spot cleaning cycle. However, the small display may be difficult for family members with no smartphones to use. It's also more expensive than other robots that have similar features.

The 980XL robot is a top model and the extra features make it well worth the cost. It is more sophisticated in mapping technology than the 900 series, it is cleaner on hard and carpeted floors, and you can start it remotely.
It also features an efficient cleaning system that includes ten times the power-lifting suction of older Roombas and a dual-swivelling brush that can reach corners and even under furniture. It even has the ability to automatically mop your floors after it vacuums.
It's a little loud, however, particularly when using the carpet boost feature. We measured it at 80 decibels, which is the equivalent of a prop plane flying overhead. You can build a virtual fence to keep it out of sensitive areas, like the dog's food and water bowls.
