11 Methods To Completely Defeat Your Robot Vacuum Mop Pet Hair
The Best Robot Vacuum and Mop Combo
A robot vacuum/mop combo is the ideal option for pets who shed fur. It can mop and vacuum and even dry and clean its own mop pads.
It also has 8,000Pa suction which is the most of any robot we've evaluated. It also can save maps of your home and set cleaning schedules from its app.
1. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni
The X2 Omni is the latest model in Ecovacs range of robot vacuum-mop hybrids. This model is equipped with Ecovacs' upgraded AIVI 3D 2.0 lidar system that provides improved mapping and obstacles avoidance. The system uses dual laser LiDAR, which is similar to that used in self-driving vehicles. It can scan a space up to 32 feet across by 360 degrees. This results in more precise mapping, quicker response times, as well as better cleaning accuracy.
It also comes with a rotating mopping mat constructed of chenille. This makes it easier to scrub hard spots than conventional mopping. In my tests the X2 Omni took just over one minute to clean its pad and get to work, and I noticed that it was more precise than other models that seemed to follow a gridded path around rooms. It was able to navigate my rooms by the corners and edges as well as create an "Zambani pattern" up and down the center of the room. It also returned to its OMNI station regularly to empty the dust bin and clean the mop with hot water prior to starting another clean-up job.
Like other Ecovacs products The X2 Omni is a breeze to set up and begin using. Snap the dock into position then plug it in and pair it with your WiFi network at home. It takes only a few minutes. You can then launch the app to begin your first cleaning task. I was able to dig into the settings and customize my floor plan in less than 15 minutes, incorporating specific areas for mopping and sweeping as well as reworking my wall-mounted furniture layouts, and much more. The X2 Omni performed admirably during my tests. It scored highly in the areas of pet hair removal and debris removal. It also had near-perfect results for crevices and edge cleaning.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
The T10 Omni from ECOVACS is a powerful vacuum and mopping machine. the best robot vacuum for pet hair is the most advanced of the T-line from the company and comes with the new OZMO Turbo2.0 mopping system, which uses dual-spinning brush for better cleaning than traditional scrubbers. It comes with YIKO, which is a natural language processing system that is the first of its kind. It can respond to a variety of voice commands. The ECOVACS App allows you to plan your home, make cleaning schedules and modify settings.
The main flaw of the T10 Omni is that it's unable to switch between vacuuming and mopping in one run. The T10 Omni has two modes that require you to attach mop heads to and from the vacuum depending on your requirements. This is great for the majority of households, but not so for people who have a busy schedule.
The Deebot T10 is an excellent robot vacuum that gives impressive results. It was able to remove more than 96% debris from our hardwood floors. This is a fantastic performance. It did a great job on carpets and tiles and removed 99percent of dirt.
This robot vacuum and mops comes with large docking systems that allows for automatic cleaning with cool water for the mop pads. It also has an auto-emptying 3L bag that's easy to replace, and hot air drying for fast and easy maintenance. It also comes with a large tank of water that allows it to be rinsed and dried more frequently between mopping sessions.
Like other mopping machines like the Deebot T10 Omni, it comes with a wash tray at its base, which rinses and dry its mop pads as it uses them. However, it doesn't have a removable tray, which means dirty water, dust, and other grime gradually accumulates in the bottom of the tray over time.
3. RoboVac X8 hybrid
While Anker's Eufy is well-known in the field of robot vacuums, this model is its first venture into the realm of mopping. It offers improved smarts, multiple map support, and LIDAR scanning, as well as twin turbine suction technology that adjusts to the floor you're cleaning. It's a mid-range robot cleaner that's attractive, even if its claim of being a one-stop shop for floor cleaning does not come true.
The X8 Hybrid looks like a traditional robotic vacuum cleaner from the top, with its circular shape, sweeping wheels and an elevated area for sensors. On the other hand you'll find a motorized floorbrush and a single side brush that pushes dust away from the edges and into the main path of its'mouth.' It's a little smaller than the main brushes of the iRobot Roomba S9 which I found made it easier to reach under chairs and couches.
The mapping system is quite sophisticated and allows you to set no-mop zones and specific cleaning zones. However it is prone to get into things (including its own charging dock) and isn't the best in negotiating carpets. It was effective in collecting pet hair off carpets. In our tests it was able to pick up 89.5 percent of cat litter.
The X8 Hybrid is controlled via an app, but it also has a set of physical buttons on its base. These buttons let you choose the cleaning mode, or turn the robot off/on. These buttons can be used to establish no-go areas and view real-time maps. It's also a bit chatty, and will inform you of what it's going to do next (start cleaning) or warn you if something isn't working.
4. ILIFE A4s
This high-tech model sucks up pet hair, kibble and other particles with top-quality efficiency and maneuvers flawlessly around furniture legs. It also has an impressive feature set that includes two cleaning modes, a self-emptying dock, and real-time obstacle avoidance technology. It's Wi-Fi-connected and best controlled using the Neato app which allows cleaning to be scheduled and overall maintenance needs monitored. The X2 Omni is an excellent option for homes with a large a mix of hard carpet and floors, but it requires some advance planning to avoid getting stuck by electrical cords, toys, or other unexpected obstacles.
In our tests of hardwood floors and kibble it performed well and was able to take everything from a single grain of rice up to many pieces of dog food in one go. It had some trouble transitioning to rugs, however, in general, this vacuum cleaner is perfect for rooms that have both types of flooring and a mix of pets.
The A4s Pro is a bit expensive but it's an excellent buy for people who want to to leave the house without hands so that they can do other things or do chores. The A4s Pro also offers a useful auto cleaning mode that increases suction power to deal with tough spills and dirt and it is equipped with a battery-powered ElectroWall which allows you to place boundaries where the robot is not allowed to enter.
This budget-friendly choice from a popular upstart brand is the most affordable robot we've ever tested and provides an outstanding value for cost. The basic navigation system employs an extremely basic random pathing algorithm and lacks room mapping capabilities, making it less efficient than the other models on this list. It's still able to navigate under furniture and in the corners. Mopping mode performed very well in our tests by picking up hairs and other debris.
5. Shark iQ
Shark's iQ may not be as well-built as the Roomba S9, but it does a better job overall in getting rid of pet hair on all surfaces. It clears bare floors more efficiently and does a decent job on low-pile carpet and makes use of smart-pathing navigational technology for greater maneuverability. It can be positioned to a particular area and comes with a range of advanced automation features including no-go zones and schedules. It lets you pause and resume cleaning sessions, making it perfect for homes that have pets.
Its self-cleaning brushroll is able to prevent knots and holds up to 30 day's worth of dirt. It has a set of side brushes that are angled to reach into corners, as well as a multi-stage filter system that captures dust, allergens, and dander.
This robot vacuum feels solid and well-built. It works with a smartphone app that lets you change the settings of your vacuum and schedule cleaning times in advance. The app lets you view the remaining battery life of the iQ and also receive push notifications in the event of any issues during a cleaning session. You can use your voice to control it using an Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant device or, if you do not have either of these, you can mark off zones with physical boundary strips.
The iQ does a good job of cleaning floors and doing a fair job on shaggy and low-pile carpet however, it doesn't have the same level of autonomy as our top choices. It's also expensive and its ongoing costs can become expensive over time.
