The Little-Known Benefits Of Subaru Car Keys
How to Programming a Subaru Key Fob at Home

It is possible that you need the key fob to be programmed by an automotive locksmith or a Subaru dealer, based on how old your Subaru is. This is done through the connection of a computer programming machine to your vehicle.

To program your Subaru car, you must open the door on the driver's side by pressing the door button and then close it. You will hear the chime, and see the dome lights blink in the instrument panel.

Step 1: Find the circuit board for your transmitter

There are several ways to program your keyfob. First, you should determine what kind of key fob you own. You can determine this by studying the shape of the key fob, or by listening to the car's sound.

Once you have the data, you can begin the process of programming your keyfob from home. You'll require flatheads and a metal key for this. The key fob case can be opened by twisting it. Then push the metal key in and pull the battery from the small tabs that secure it. Replace the battery with a fresh one and then put the key fob case back together.

Step 2 Step 2: Unscrew your Key Fob Case

It is a good idea to change the battery in key fobs if they aren't working. In some instances, the buttons on the key fob might be broken. If you notice that the contacts made of metal on the button have become loose try soldering them back in place to allow them to work again.

Before you begin the process, ensure the doors of your car are shut and your ignition is off. You can accomplish this by closing the driver's door and pressing the door button ten times in rapid intervals. You'll then hear the instrument panel chime and your dome light should flash. This indicates that you are ready to move on.

Step 3: Insert the fob of the key into the ignition

There are a lot of articles on the internet that will show instructions on how to program a new or replacement Subaru key fob at home, however they are not very specific. Reprogramming an electronic lock is best done by an expert auto dealer in Fort Bliss or a locksmith.

Sit in the driver's seat of your Subaru with the engine turned off and all doors shut. Use the door button to unlock all of the doors. Close and open the driver's doors two more times. Remove and insert the ignition key (don't rotate it) 10 times over 40 seconds. The system will vibrate when the settings are changed.

Step 4: Turn the Ignition On

Before you begin this process of key fob programming it is important to note that this method works only with a functioning key already. If not then a dealer or auto locksmith will be required to program a brand new key for your Subaru in Fort Bliss.

Once the key has been programmed, it should be in a position to start your vehicle within five minutes. To begin, make sure all doors are shut and the engine is off. Sit in the driver's seat and unlock all doors using the door button. Insert the key into the ignition, turn it on to the off position (the electrical systems will come on, but the engine will remain off) then turn it back to the off position 10 times in rapid succession.

Step 5: Unlock the Driver's Door

Subaru provides a variety of premium cars equipped with key fobs, which can lock and unlock the doors as well as start the car and defrost the windows. These gadgets can sometimes stop working.

Call a locksmith dealer to solve the issue. This will resolve the issue and ensure that your vehicle is secure.

To accomplish this, you need to open the driver's door, then close it. Then, you need to place the ignition key in and switch it to the initial position. Then, reverse it to the off position. Do this as quickly as you can ten times. After the tenth time, you should hear a chime.

Step 6: Press the Lock/Unlock Button on the Driver's Door

If you're looking to change the battery on the Subaru key fob, the process is straightforward. Remove the fob's exterior case. Use a flathead for prying the interior case open and take out the batteries that were in there.

After removing the battery to replace it, you can replace it with the new one. Close the case. Next, sit in the driver's seated position and unlock all the doors using the door button control. Put the key in the ignition and turn it to ensure that the electrical system is turned on, but the engine is off. Repeat this 10 times in a line until you hear a chime sound on the instrument panel. This will enter the system into programming mode.

Step 7: Press on the Passenger Door Lock/Unlock button.

For some owners, the annoyance sound heard when locking or unlocking a Subaru key fob from outside can be distracting. In some cases the chirp may be canceled by closing and opening all doors and a double-click of the lock button on the key fob.

Close all doors, including the lid for the fuel-filler, and switch off the ignition. Press and hold the lock side of the key fob's lock button for 10 seconds. The instrument panel emits a chime when this is achieved. The chime signals that the door and fuel-filler lid are locked. It is possible to alter the setting so that the doors are locked automatically without pressing a button.

Step 8 Step 8: Enter your 8-digit Transmitter Number.

Write down the first series of 8-digits and keep it in your wallet. Then, sit in the driver's chair, close the doors and turn the key into the first position. After G28 , the instrument panel should begin to sound at least once.

The circuit board for the transmitter is within the key fob case. There will be one or two sets of numbers (8-digits) on the circuit board. Take note of the sequence that starts with the first number, and follow the instructions in this guide to register the code in the system of your vehicle. This procedure may require a visit to the dealer for older models.
