Samsung Fridges 10 Things I'd Loved To Know Earlier
Samsung Fridges - Show Off Your Kitchen Style
Samsung refrigerators are designed to show off your kitchen style. These refrigerators are equipped with smart features to keep you organized and entertained.
SmartThings is a free app that lets you control your fridge using Wi-Fi. You can easily change the temperature of your fridge and make use of the FlexZone as an alcohol, wine or deli zone, or even a soft-freeze zone.
The Family Hub
The Samsung Family Hub refrigerator's 21-inch touch screen makes it the control center of the kitchen. The apps let you manage your calendars, grocery lists, log food and household inventory and even leave notes for your family members. Music apps (Spotify, iHeartRadio) and the ability to look at the interior of the refrigerator without opening the door are also available.
Family Hub refrigerators are equipped with a wide range of features. They can also be used as an intelligent home control system that connects to your Wi Fi and allows you to control other Samsung smart appliances, including smartThings-connected hobs, ovens and range hoods. Samsung's app lets you begin and manage the appliances from anywhere in the world, as long as there is an internet connection.
This feature is not available on all models of the Family Hub refrigerator. Some versions don't have a camera to enable the View Inside feature, while others do, but only support two or three cameras at the same time.
Even so, we found the app to be a useful tool to reduce food waste and making the most of fridge's capabilities. We utilized the app to set reminders for eating leftovers, as well as to keep track of expiration dates for items in our fridge. The fridge's cameras also allow us to quickly and easily make shopping lists for the supermarket to ensure we don't forget the most important items for our next trip.
Family Hub refrigerators have other clever features that help them stand out among the rest of the competitors. They include an automated morning briefing, which includes news and information, as well as an interactive voice-controlled browser. The fridge has an integrated speaker which can play music, audio podcasts and other audio content. It's a fun feature but doesn't have the quality of sound that comes from a dedicated Bluetooth speaker.
The biggest drawback to the Family Hub fridge is its price however, there's a lot to appreciate about this appliance. It's among the most well-designed smart refrigerators available and comes with a range of features that make it worth it even for families who do not intend to utilize the full capacity of this fridge.
The Freezer
The Family Hub Refrigerator is Samsung's boldest and latest attempt to sell us smart fridges. A 21.5-inch touchscreen with apps, a camera that can monitor inventory inside the doors, and an elegant, stylish stainless-steel black finish makes this fridge look more modern than any other on the market. It's also pricey -- starting at $5600 and $6,000 for the counter-depth model that is larger in capacity.
The Family Hub is a great fridge that can do everything, including manage your grocery list and calendar. Its lack of SmartThings integration and its aplethora of apps and the absence of voice controls feel like missed opportunities. And it's less spacious than premium French door competitors and even with the additional capacity for ice.
Another thing to consider when buying a fridge is the amount of energy it will use throughout its entire life. This includes the embodied energies of the raw materials used in its construction, the energy needed to make it, and any additional electricity or natural gas it consumes while operating in your home. We've done some research and found that Samsung refrigerators are generally more energy efficient than the average refrigerator.
You can also get an idea of how much energy a refrigerator consumes by examining its ENERGY rating. This will give you the amount of energy it uses each year. But, it's important to keep in mind that the ENERGY STAR label only applies to refrigerators that meet the highest efficiency standards in energy use and that even a "high-efficiency" refrigerator will use more electricity than one that meets lower standards. It is essential to conduct thorough research prior to buying a refrigerator.
The French Door
The Family Hub fridge is Samsung's latest, and perhaps most daring, attempt to sell consumers on the concept of a smart fridge. It features the French door design that is becoming more common in modern fridges. However, it has a 21.5 inch touchscreen that comes with cameras and apps that can monitor the food inventory. It's also, in my opinion, the most expensive refrigerator on the market (though it's not necessarily the most expensive as that distinction belongs to the company's chef-focused Collection fridge which starts at $5,500).
The fridge feels futuristic but it doesn't seem like a complete change from how we've previously used fridges. The refrigerator has always served as an important post in town for busy families. It was used to store calendars, a to-do list, and report cards, to remind us about soccer practice or to note down what we needed to buy.
Samsung's app has many of the same features as a smartphone. However the functionality is limited. The apps are designed to help you keep track of your food inventory and set timers, but it's difficult not to be bummed that Alexa integration is nowhere to be found.
While Samsung doesn't offer an official breakdown of where their products are assembled, based on the fact that they have four chip fabrication centers in South Korea and one in Austin, Texas, it's probably safe to assume that most of the fridges are made overseas (Manufacturing-Centers). This means that, during the life-cycle of the fridge, the sun's energy is used to produce the raw materials that make up the fridge. Then, kinetic energy is consumed to transport the fridge, manufacture it, and operate it.
Smart refrigerators are more efficient from a carbon footprint standpoint than traditional refrigerators since they require less electricity and gas to cool their contents and run the internal systems. Smart refrigerators are energy efficient and designed to conserve power when not being used.
The Bespoke
If you're willing to drop almost $3,000 on a refrigerator that you can customize, this model from Samsung is a great way to showcase your kitchen style. This model features removable colored panels that can be altered at any time. It's a great option for those looking to complement their interior design. The fridge isn't worth the price if require more advanced functions.
Smart refrigerators are connected to internet through Wi-Fi. They let you examine the condition of your appliance remotely, view what's inside the fridge without opening the door, and even verify if the doors are closed. They also help conserve energy. Many come with built-in coffee makers and ice makers to help you save more.
These appliances are designed to conserve energy, with the ENERGY STAR certification and SmartThings Energy, which makes it easy to track and manage your fridge's power usage through the app on your phone. You can also set up a timer to remind you to buy groceries or put food out for the trash.
The Samsung Family Hub fridge uses touchscreens that resemble a smartphone and lets you make grocery lists, search for recipes and more. You can also use the app to watch TV on your Samsung smart TV, but the connection to Wi-Fi and a Samsung account are required.
You can also make use of the Family Hub to manage your digital calendar and to leave notes for your housemates or family members. Frydge can also opt to connect the Samsung fridge to the Samsung SmartThings system, so that you can check what's inside from anywhere.
However the touchscreen can be a challenge to use. It's not as responsive as smartphones, and drawing and typing can be a problem. It's also limited in its resolution for touch. It's difficult to select buttons accurately due to the huge bezel around the screen.
The Family Hub refrigerator has many eco-friendly features. The Energy STAR rating indicates that it uses less than half the energy of a typical refrigerator for the home. This is due to the fridge's lower electricity consumption and more efficient refrigeration system. The fridge's embodied energy is also relatively low, which means it doesn't require as much in the way of raw materials or natural resources to make.
