Undeniable Proof That You Need Upvc Replacement Door Handles
UPVC Replacement Door Handles
As time passes the handles on your doors will wear down and need to be changed. When doing this it is important that the new handles conform to the critical dimensions of the old handle.
The three measurements you need to examine are the top screw's position, lever and key hole sizes. Check the size guide for help with this.
Inline Lever/Lever
A lever/lever handle is a contemporary door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This kind of handle is available in a variety of styles and finishes. A number of manufacturers make this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.
Fab and Fix Windsor Inline Sprung Lever Door Handle
The handles made of uPVC/Composite are made of tough materials and are ideal for doors with multiple points that require a strong design. The handles are inline and operate from the same spindle and screw fixings, so they are easily installed on new or existing uPVC/Composite doors.
The design of the sprung lever allows the handle to be positioned and angled to provide a comfortable grip and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles, which allows for the assurance of the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The sprung lever can also be shortened to fit a wider range of locks. This is particularly beneficial for doors with narrower frames, where the cylinder is located further back. upvc door handle www.repairmywindowsanddoors.co.uk that is shorter is an excellent option for doors where the latch can be opened by a thumb turn located on the inside.
Lever Pad
A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently than lever handles that are found on the majority of doors. These handles are operated by a single spindle or by two spindles, inline or offset. They are generally employed on UPVC double glazed doors. They are available in a variety of variations and finishes.
The handles have been tested to at least 200,000 cycles and are available in a variety of finishes like White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to rust. This provides the handle with an outstanding performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.
All UPVC lever pads for handles come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on the uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm allow for a larger size of handle which is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi-point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have a spring, which solves the issue of handles for doors that slide out of horizontal position when not being used.
It is important to ensure that the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also called 'handle centre' or cylinder centres'. It is important for matching the correct handles.
Once you have the proper PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant handles that you require for your doors. These are typically square or round with an internal lever and an external push pad.
The majority of the UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are spring-loaded. This means that they can be reverted to a horizontal state when not being used instead of hanging, and possibly securing to the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the building. The majority of UPVC lever pad handles come in both left and right handed models, allowing them to be placed on either side of doors.
Euro Cylinder
Cylinder locks can be found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock operates with a key that unlocks the cylinder's case. This exposes pins that can be aligned with those in the lock and allow them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro Cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins with both internal and external doors typically having different levels of security.
The choice of the correct cylinder is vitally important; this is dependent on the way your door and handle are used. External doors, for example should be equipped with cylinders that are more secure and doors inside can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. In addition, some cylinders come with additional features that increase security further, such as anti-drill and anti-bump characteristics.
To make sure that the euro cylinder is the correct size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the central fixing screw hole to each end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however, in the event that this is not possible, you can remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks, such as snapping locks, therefore it is important that it's not too long.
The majority of modern cylinders have been constructed with anti-drill and bump resistance features that are built into their design. These are designed to reduce attacks by forcing cylinders to rotate in a new direction. This will help to deflect the attack and protect your doors.
Certain cylinders are made to resist snapping. This is a more frequent method of attack on cylinders, where the break line inside the lock is attacked by a tool that is specially designed to break the front of the cylinder and allow the door to be opened. This is a lot faster and more straightforward than opening the door with multipoint locks. It also leaves no evidence of a burglary, which can hinder an insurance claim.
Spring Cassette
This spring cassette sits in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after use. Previously a lot of handles did not have a spring integrated into them, and without it they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism is removed. This simple feature is one of the best ways to correct this, and is an excellent way to stop your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in the open or closed position, as these aren't always easy to close manually.
These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They will not fit handles that are not sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please look at the image for a detailed diagram). They are a replacement for damaged or missing cassettes inside the door handle backplate of many brands of uPVC doors. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
These spring cassettes are an excellent value solution for the problem of door handles that have become sagging. They are simple to install and will prolong the lifespan of your uPVC doors.
