1945 Willys MB WWII Jeep – DOD 8-8-45 – Willys Acres Restoration

Offered for sale is my 1945 Willys MB, professionally restored by Willys Acres in Ontario, Canada.

The data plate shows a Date of Delivery of August 8, 1945 (8-8-45) — a particularly interesting date, falling two days after the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and one day before Nagasaki, during the final days of WWII.

The Jeep is rust-free and presents extremely well. It was professionally restored by Willys Acres, specialists in military Willys Jeeps.

It is fitted with a replacement engine, which is not represented as original to the Jeep.

“MARY”

The Jeep is named “Mary” in dedication to Mary Rohmer, the late wife of Major-General Richard Rohmer, distinguished Canadian WWII veteran, D-Day reconnaissance pilot and recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.

Rohmer flew a 135-mission operational tour over France, Belgium and Holland and later rose to the rank of Major-General and served as Chief of Reserves of the Canadian Armed Forces. His honours include Officer of the Order of Canada, Commander of the Order of Military Merit, Member of the Order of Ontario and Chevalier of France’s Legion of Honour.

He has also had a longstanding honorary association with Ontario’s police, fire and paramedic services.

The dedication to Mary gives this MB a unique Canadian commemorative story in addition to its unusual August 8, 1945 delivery date.
