A Proactive Rant About Peugeot 208 Key Replacement
Peugeot 308 Key Fob Problems and How to Fix Them

If your Peugeot key fob suddenly stopped functioning it could be due to a dead battery in the coin-cell unit, damaged receiver modules, water issues, or even a defective chip. Luckily these are all easy to fix and you'll have your vehicle back to normal in no time at all!

The key blade may become worn-out and cause a faulty car key. This can be fixed if you visit your local Car Key Man Auto Locksmith and let them install an entirely new key blade for you.

Battery

The key fob in your Peugeot 308 may die or become weak enough to not transmit a strong signal. The key fob may cease to function and stop you from locking or unlocking your doors, or starting the engine. To fix this issue, you'll need to replace the battery in the key fob.

You can buy a brand new battery at an auto parts store or at your local hardware store. Make sure that the battery is brand new and not stored on the shelf too long. A fresh new battery will have more capacity and be able to send a more powerful signal to the car.

After replacing the battery try unlocking the doors and locking them with the key fob. If the doors don't unlock it's likely that the issue lies to be in the receiver module of the car which can be changed by your local Peugeot dealer.

The chip inside the key fob can also be damaged. This could happen when you drop your key fob on the ground or expose it to water. The rubber seals that shield the chip from moisture might become worn down over time particularly if your key fob is exposed to water for extended periods of time like submerging it in the ocean at the beach. To stop this from happening, you must keep your key fob free from moisture and not let it come into contact with water.

Water Damage

If your key fob becomes wet in water, whether you dropped it into the pool or threw it into a puddle, don't think it's a loss. peugeot is protected by rubber seals, however, prolonged exposure to water can damage its electronic chip. Water is a great conductor and any water that enters the key fob will cause short circuits in series which can eventually harm the electronic chip. After removing the battery clean the contacts with isopropyl ethanol and dry it completely before putting it back in.

Your Peugeot 308 may not start due to the battery being dead. Jumper cables are a fantastic option to restart the engine in case you have an extra car. If the battery is defective it is required to replace it.

Another reason could be a bad receiver in the vehicle, which may hinder it from receiving a signal from the key fob. It could be a issue with the antenna, or wiring, or the key fob may be damaged. If you are using a new key fob, it might need to be programmed for the vehicle. If you're not able to solve the issue, call an expert technician. A trained technician will be able to determine the issue quickly and fix it immediately.

Radio Interference

Interference can cause symptoms such as a fob that is not recognized or has a limited range. This can be either radiated, or conducted, with the former being caused by power supply cables or speakers wiring that are too close to electrical components. Generally, rerouting the cables or moving them further away from the components may solve the problem.

It's unlikely that someone is watching your key fob's signals in an attempt to steal your vehicle, but it's possible that radio frequency interference has drowned out the signal. Luckily, this is a simple issue to repair.

If you're experiencing a problem with your key fobs that aren't recognized, try a new battery. Also, ensure that the battery is of the right type and size. Batteries that aren't the correct size could damage your battery.

These devices may interfere with the key signal if they use the same radio frequency. Do not connect these devices to your key fob.

Pairing Issues

The remote keyless entry system of the car is equipped with an antenna that receives radio frequencies from the key fob. You won't be able to start your vehicle if this receiver is malfunctioning even if your key fob is in good working order and is reprogrammable. This problem can be caused in a number of ways, including by a dead coin-cell battery or water damage. The receiver may also be malfunctioning because of a software bug or internal damage in the key.

One of the main reasons that your Peugeot 308 key fob doesn't work is that the battery inside has failed. You can easily replace this by using a fresh battery, however, it's important to choose the right battery for your key fob. If you use a battery that is not correct, it could lead to further problems with the key fob, therefore it is recommended to use the original or the replacement that is identical in size, voltage, and specifications.

Your Peugeot 308 keyfob may not function if associated with a different vehicle. You might have accidentally given your key fob away to a friend or it was used to unlock other vehicles. It is possible to fix this issue by reprogramming the fob with an OBDII scanner. This tool will request information about your car, for example, its VIN or engine type. It is important that you enter the correct information.
