Description

This is a virtually rust free 63 year old vehicle with the exception of two small areas on the driver’s side. The running gear has been converted from original drive train to a Chevy SB 350/5.7 L, V-8, 2BBL carburetor. It has 1978 Jeep Wagoner front and rear differentials, power disc front brakes, 11“ drum self-adjusting rear brakes, power steering, turbo 400 Automatic transmission with a Dana 20 transfer case and AC installed, but not working. This work was done by Steve A Zigurs owner of General Auto & Truck, Colorado Springs, Co. who built, restored and repaired Willys for over 20 years before closing his shop. It is done right. The vehicle was driven from Laramie, WY to Lincoln, NE several times before being parked due to a broken motor mount and brake issues, which have now been repaired. My partner and I also flushed out the fuel system and made sure all the gauges are in working order. It now runs and drive great for a 63 year old wagon.
I have been rebuilding and restoring Willys since retiring 7 years ago. I believe with the following repairs this Willys would be a very nice everyday driver. (1) Change all the fluids, replace the rear transfer case output shaft seal, install new spark plug wires, replace the steering gear box seal and install new valve cover gaskets for approximately $500 – $700. (2) To make the outside more cosmetically appealing repair/replace and paint the roof for approximately $1000-$1500. We have a replacement roof available. (3) Refresh the interior with a new head liner, reupholster the seats, add new front seats (we have original front seats available) and replace the inside panels for approximately $1000. (4) Purchase 4 new tires for approximately $850. This is not a money pit. For just under $4000 plus the purchase price you could have a piece of history that most likely will not depreciate and can be worked on by any average mechanic. You will call it your smile machine, because every time people see it, they “SMILE”.
