This a period-correct first year Jeep CJ-5 manufactured by Kaiser-Willys (the first year that Jeep started offering the civilian CJ-5). Based on the Korean War M38A1 Jeep, the first CJ-5’s had many of the military features often seen in the military variant including hood and fender mounting locations for blackout lights and engine snorkel (i.e., Kaiser motors reused military parts in stock for these first Jeeps). This Jeep is production number 9731.
This classic Jeep has the original Willys “Hurricane” F-Head 134 inline four cylinder engine (72 HP, 144-ft-lb), correct and completely rebuilt three-speed T-90 transmission, new clutch, rebuilt two-speed Dana 18 transfer case, Dana 25 front axle, and Dana 44 rear axle. This vehicle also has the extremely rare side steps and original towing bumper.
The engine is strong running and the transmission and transfer case shift easily into both ‘front axle’ mode as well as low range (the Dana 18 transfer case has two shift levers, one for each action). The vehicle has a new windshield as well as locking front hubs, new steering linkage and universal joints, side mounted spare tire and side-mounted gas can as well a new drivers side fender and front grille. It has been recently painted with MIL STD CARC tan paint. The vehicle has no body rust.
A great little Jeep for off-roading in tight places in the desert, in town driving, and it runs like a top.
This Jeep also includes the removable tow bar accessary (as seen in one of the photos), enabling it to be conveniently towed to locations of your choice.
Completely street legal with current CA registration and title.
Serious offers only, and please, no calls trying to sell me goods or services. Thanks.
