1951 M-38 flat fender 95% completed project. This was never supposed to be a frame off restoration/rebuild; you all know how that goes. But there was nothing I touched that wasn’t bent broken or needing to be replaced. I have complete photo documentation, I can send as many as you would like, of is jeep being taken down to the bare frame and build it from the ground up. Everything has been fixed, replaced or upgraded. I will make a list but there is just so much replaced that is practically a new jeep. It is not stock and was never intended to be a stock M-38. I have over $20,000 in parts, and that is what I have in receipts, not counting the dollar outlay without receipts. Many, many hours have gone into this jeep in the last three years. I am 61 years old, bad knees, shoulder, back and I lost my build partner so I am on my own. My physical condition precludes me from finishing this project without paying a fabricator to finish it for me. It’s time to move on for me. Make me an honest offer and I will consider it.

1951 M-38 complete frame off teardown
Cleaned, sanded, rust protection and bed liner material applied to frame, suspension, and body-tub.
New brakes front and rear
Dana 25 in front completely rebuilt by Diff works
33X12.5X 15 super swamper TSL tires
Radiator complete recore
1968 225 odd fire Buick v-6 w/new block hugger headers/ceramic coated
Extra 230 odd fire V-6 engine
Rebuilt carb.

I bought this Jeep to use as my hunting camp vehicle and as a restoration project for me and my son to complete over the summer. My work schedule has changed to 6 days a week, so this vehicle is exactly like it was the day I bought it. This Jeep appears to have the original engine and running gear. I am not an expert on these vehicles by any means, just trying to accurately state what I know about this Jeep. The transmission is a Hi/Lo range with 3 forward gears and 1 reverse. It has a 4WD shifter and locking front hubs to engage the 4WD system. Overall, the Jeep is about 90% original from what I can tell. There are mud tires on the Jeep now, spare is the original military type tire (very worn). The alternator bracket needs to be aligned to the drive belt (it has obviously been replaced) and the Jeep needs brake lines. There are no brake lines on the Jeep at this time. Odometer shows 21,000 miles, no way to verify if this is accurate or not. There is another front grill included in this auction, military spare tire and wheel, spare tire mount (goes on rear of passenger side) and the original heater assembly. This Jeep would make it possible for you to have a fully enclosed, heated, 4WD, ATV type vehicle that could go almost anywhere. The front bumper looks like it had a winch on it at one time, no winch on it when I bought it. It has two original looking front seats, passenger seats pitches forward to allow access to the rear and to a floor storage area under the passenger seat. There is no rear seat. The tailgate is really rusted and deteriorated on top edge, would need to be replaced. There is no access hatch door for the rear, so the vehicle is open in the rear above the tailgate (see photo of rear). Passenger side door is missing the plexiglass window, driver’s door is missing the door handle.

1952 M38 Willy’s Military Jeep with original correct motor approximately 10,000 miles. Jeep has original 24 volt system with a new wiring harness. New Old Stock or good take out parts, and new old stock carburetor. Has an original new old stock replacement floor panel on it that is not re-manufactured, and a new windshield. Jeep has three original tires and one new tire five original complete rims. Has a rear tailgate spare tire mount with radio antennae and mounts. The two batteries for the 24 volt system are in good shape with new battery cables. The entire battery compartment is insulated with arctic heater insulators plus I have the arctic heater but it is missing some parts. There are new spark plugs and a new old stock Marine Corps bumper. The driver and passenger seat frames are original and I have the bottom spring, back spring, with one missing back spring, seats need canvas covers that cost about $150. There is no back seat because the radio is there which is available but for an additional price (in excellent condition). All the gauges are correct and has correct data plates plus the tub data plate. Has the original weapon mount on front windshield which is not a remanufactured part. Jeep has new old stock original windshield w/ wiper motors and new old stock wiper blades (no arms). The Jeep has been completely taken down to the frame and everything was sandblasted. All parts have been cleaned, primered, and painted. It does need to be wet sanded and another final coat of paint to get it perfect. I have the paint that I used and will provide to complete final touches (correct original military paint). I haven’t painted any of the identification marks but I have the original numbers to do so. The rims have not been painted or sandblasted except for the spare. The leaf springs were dismantled and sandblasted, primered, and painted during restoration and the whole jeep has all new old stock footmen loops. It also had an original military shovel. The master cylinder was rebuilt and there is a brass fitting on the back that is stripped but I have the new part, it just needs to be installed. In addition to this I also installed new spark plug wires and changed all fluids (eg. axle, diff, and motor). Overall this is a very clean truck, runs great the only thing wrong is it need to be finished and there is a minor motor oil leak and will most likely need an alignment. Other than that it has been well taken care of and is about 95-97 % complete. I have many pictures throughout the frame off restoration and its progress that I can provide to show the work that has been done but my computer is messed up so I do not have the pictures of the latter work or how it looks right now. The 4×4 works great and is would be great vehicle that only needs minimal work to get it perfect. I spent about a year restoring this Jeep to its current condition spending about at least three to four days a week. Overall I have about 15 thousand invested not including labor, the original parts that went into this project are difficult to get and I did not settle on any part. Nothing but the very best and original have been put into this Jeep and its condition shows. I’m looking for $10,500 and will consider reasonable trades, please contact me if you have any additional questions about the vehicle or for offers.
